The Excellent Chariot : Outer and Inner Preliminaries
The first two publications in the Heart Essence of the Dakinis series will contain a groundbreaking translation of a text titled The Excellent Chariot. This text was written in the 18th century by the third Dzogchen Rinpoche, an incarnation of Pema Rigdzin, the founder of Dzogchen Monastery. Drawing primarily from the writings of Longchenpa and the root texts of the Heart Essence of the Dakinis, the author presents the practice of Dzogchen in a clear, accessible manner.
The first volume in the series will present the first half of this profound commentary, which explains the foundational practices of the Great Perfection. These practices are commonly referred to as the "preliminary practices," or "ngondro," and are considered essential for the correct practice of the Great Perfection, as they ensure the practitioner has a solid grounding in the fundamentals of the Buddhist tradition. In addition, this volume also contains an overview of the history of the teachings, a section on the importance and meaning of empowerment, and extensive material on how to properly receive and study the Dzogchen teachings. Finally, this volume will also contain an extensive glossary that will enable the reader to understand the core terminology of the Great Perfection tradition.
